Designed by Alejandro Tapias and hand‑carved by Colombian Artisans, this piece is veneered with over 60,000 Czech glass beads, taking its motif from the intricate patterns of the Aracnis Picta beetle, native to Colombia’s humid tropical forests. Each bead is applied individually, creating a contemporary, organic surface that merges its meticulous craftsmanship with sculptural presence.

Alejandro Tapias is an internationally recognized Colombian designer whose practice bridges European training with the ancestral craftsmanship of his homeland. After studying at Italy’s IED, he returned to Colombia to co-create with local ethnic communities, making the artisan’s ritual the primary architect of each object. From sculptural beadwork to traditional weaving, his work celebrates provenance and the human hand, positioning living heritage within the global landscape of collectible design.
