Designed by Alejandro Tapias and hand-carved by Kamentza artisans. This footed vessel is finished with a meticulous veneer of 45,000 glass beads set individually by hand. Its vibrant, geometric pattern is inspired by the Hiperantha testacea (Jewel Beetle) found in Colombia’s humid tropical forests.
Alejandro Tapias is an internationally recognized Colombian designer whose practice bridges European training with the ancestral craftsmanship of his homeland. After studying at Italy’s IED, he returned to Colombia to co-create with local ethnic communities, making the artisan’s ritual the primary architect of each object. From sculptural beadwork to traditional weaving, his work celebrates provenance and the human hand, positioning living heritage within the global landscape of collectible design.
