Wall Lamp | The Wounaan legend

Crafted on Colombia’s Pacific coast, this lamp unites two exceptional traditions: Werregue basketry - a weaving practice found nowhere else in the world - and hand-blown glass shaped in small Bogotá workshops. The result is a singular work of functional art.

 

Part of our Choco Collection, it is inspired by the Wounaan community’s myth “The Banana of God” - a tale honoring the god Dosat, who created a palm tree deemed “useless” because it bore no fruit. Its true value emerged through the community’s ingenuity: extracting fine fibers from its stems to weave baskets once used to carry river water to the reserve.
